LISTEN TO THE GLOW SHOW ON iTUNES

*This episode was published in May 2019 before I became unwell and had to put my podcast on hold for some time.  That's why you'll hear about the Love & Glow Show, instead of The Glow Show as it will not be called going forward.

Here we are, starting again nearly a year later in 2020!

Hi, and welcome to The Glow Show. Your go to for grownup love and glowing skin, dedicated to help you transform your relationships and bringing you the most current and trusted beauty advice for glowing skin from the inside out.

This episode is just a little bit different and I am so happy to be sharing some really exciting news with you. So if you're a regular listener you will be familiar with my previous podcast called The Ready for Love podcast, that I've been hosting for some time as part of my work as a dating and relationship coach for women.

But over the last year there've also been some wonderfully exciting developments and I've actually launched my own skin care and beauty range called Ané.

So before we dive in and I tell you all about the new show, let me tell you just a little bit more about the product that didn't just change my skin and my skin care routine, but also my life because it actually inspired me to create the Ané Skincare range.

So let me share with you why I decided to relaunch my podcast as The Love and Glow Show. And if we haven't met yet, I'll just tell you a little bit more about me and my story.

As I said before, if you're a return listener, you'll know that in the Ready for Love podcast, the previous version we talked about love, dating, sex and relationships. And this is still one of my biggest passions and absolute favourite things to talk about.

Alongside this, I've also always had a bit of a private obsession with skincare and I'll never forget my 13th birthday when my grandmother bought me my first set of skin care products to cleanse, tone and moisturise and that sparked a lifelong love for trying new products and all things skin and beauty related.

So with the launch of Ané Skincare and Beauty, I felt it made sense to bring these two loves of mine together and talk about it in one place. So in a nutshell, we're still going to talk about how you can have the best relationships and the best sex of your life.

How you can heal the relationship with yourself if that is something you feel you struggle with sometimes. I know this is still very true for me from time to time and we're also going to talk about skincare, beauty products, recommendations, routines, self care, wellness from the inside out and also updates and developments on what's happening in the skincare industry.

So you can make the best decisions for yourself when it comes to choosing your own products and ways of taking care of yourself.

Now going forward from now on the podcast will be called The Love and Glow Show and as always it will be a mix between episodes by me and then also interviews with my amazing lineup of handpicked guests across the relationship, skincare, beauty and wellness industries.

Now, I have to admit that interviewing inspiring guests is actually one of my favourite things about having my own show because it is always somebody that I follow, that I admire and that I'm inspired by through their own journeys and stories.

I have met some of the most incredible people in my life this way. And I'm so grateful for that - some of them have become really, really important to me and really, really close friends. And well, having that as part of having my own show is just huge for me and I'm very grateful for it.

So it also gives me the chance to share with you through these interviews, their expertise in their own fields and their best advice, their tools and resources and strategies and what they do to create lives that are making a difference for themselves and for others.

So just like you and me, many of them have had their own rock bottom moments and turning points in their lives. And the things that led them to choose a different path and finally create a life that they love on their terms and now they are inspiring others to do the same.

And I'm so looking forward to be bringing more of this to you.

Now, if you have a bit more time to listen, I've just explained why the format, well not really the format, but the scope and the focus of the show is expanded a little bit. But if you and I don't know each other that well, then I'll just tell you a little bit more about me and then that way we can get to know each other a little bit better.

So as I said before, my name is Ane I'm originally from South Africa, just in case you wonder about the accent. But I've been living in England since the beginning of 1999.

I only came for two years initially, but I'm still here and I'm very happy. I live in the most beautiful town in England, I think. A city called Bath. And while I'm always a bit homesick for my South Africa home and family and sunshine, I am really so, so happy here.

So I've been working with people directly for about 20 years, just over 20 years now. First in various roles and capacities in child protection because I trained as a social worker many, many years ago. And then I moved into working with women after breakup or divorce.

So for the last four years or so, I've been running my own dating and relationship coaching practice, specialising in helping women to start over and rebuild their lives and their confidence and reinvent themselves after breakup and divorce.

I won the coveted dating expert of the year in 2017 at the Dating Awards at the time. And this has been a very, very important, well, it's been a life changing part of my life, working with women in this way. And this also came after my own personal experiences and recovering from my own divorce in my mid 30s and reinventing myself in my own life.

And all of this, adding up all these years working with people and women specifically, it's now my mission to help as many women as possible define and create lives on their own terms while looking and feeling as good as possible as they can about themselves.

So underneath all of this really is everything to do with relationships and relationships are everything to me.

I believe it's the foundation on which we build our lives. And in this, I'm especially referring to the relationship with ourselves and I'll say more about that in a moment.

So it's fair to say that I'm absolutely fascinated by relationships and what make people take, why we love the way we love and why we love who we love. And so we will keep delving into that full spectrum of this a lot more over time.

And while I'm fascinated by relationships, I've also maybe like many of you, if you're listening, I've also had my fair share of breakups and breakdowns. And as I mentioned before, a devastating divorce around my mid 30s.

It was only really then that I realised there were things in myself that I needed to figure out and work on before I could ever be in another relationship. And that started a very interesting journey in uncovering and discovering wh

y I was the way I was and how I became the person I was and why and how I functioned the way I did in relationships.

And what I know for sure now is that at the core of this healing, the often painful relationships with ourselves is, but this might be the one thing that may be holding you back in life more than anything else.

There's often conflicting or painful relationship, like I say, that we have with ourselves. And I know this has certainly been at times a huge personal struggle for me. Now at least I understand where much of that comes from, but I'm still very much on this journey as well.

So when I was looking at starting the Ane Skincare and Beauty range, it was always going to be more than just products, which I love and I'm obsessed with.

But it was always clear to me that the root of the Ane philosophy is that true beauty is more than meets the eye and it's so much more than skin deep and what we see at first glance.

And that the relationship that we have with our skin and our body and with a mirror and how we see ourselves is so unique to us and so intimate.

And for so many of us, it's the source of deep unhappiness and anxiety and self doubt and criticism and judgment, despite what we may be projecting out in the world sometimes.

Well, many of us struggle with the relationships in our lives or struggle to find meaning and purpose in what we do or why we're actually here or maybe struggling to take care of ourselves instead of prioritising everything and everybody else.

I've learned over time from so many of the amazing women that I've met and worked with, clients and friends and my own experiences that it's this relationship with ourselves, the way we see and perceive ourself, how we see and feel about our place in the world in relation to the world and in relation to others.

That's the real starting point of everything else in our lives.

But what does this actually mean and how do we go about healing the parts of ourselves that may be struggling so that we can have the love and the life that we want while looking and feeling glowingly healthy and radiant from the inside out.

And when all is said and done, this is really the deeper underlying question that we will be covering with The Love and Glow Show over time. And I hope you will come and join me.

So as I said, over the years I've been so inspired by so many of the women I've come to know.

All at different stages of their journeys, all on their own journeys of healing and recovering and rebuilding and turning what was once some of the darkest moments in their lives into the fuel and the foundation to create amazing new lives and relationships and even businesses.

And it's these stories of transformation and what it really takes to heal from the inside out that gives me so much hope and I really want to share that with you. Just stories of loss and grief and trauma and courage and grace and hope and triumph and starting over and second chances.

And I know that most of us have experiences and battles that leave us feeling lonely and maybe defeated at times. And as if we may never see the light again. But there's also that little light inside each of us that finds the strength to just keep going, even if we only just make it through today.

So eventually we get to that point where we are stronger and braver than ever before. And for many of us, it's the point where we finally become the person we know deep down we're capable off and finally create a life on our own terms. And I hope we can explore this together.

Defining beauty on our own terms, creating the lives we choose to live, to create lives that matter and make a difference. However big or small. And as I said before, all while looking and feeling radiantly healthy, confident, and good about ourselves. I actually do believe that it's possible to have all of this and more.
